Nico Brooks
I’m an electrical engineering intern at Moss Robotics and a freshman studying electrical engineering at UC Santa Cruz. I build complete systems: boards, firmware, enclosures, and the software people use.
Lately
Alongside my internship and classes, I’m developing Moji, a pocket-sized companion with expressive hardware and a native iPhone app. Its v1.0.4 release candidate brings together a personal Library, nearby play, and everyday tools; physical validation is the next step. I’m also working on an IMU-based gesture wearable.
Earlier builds include a self-balancing vehicle and BrooksBoard. Each has been a chance to learn by making, testing, and revisiting the electronics and mechanical decisions.
Outside of building
I enjoy conferences and meetups around engineering, AI, and leadership. Away from a desk, I spend time swimming, playing underwater hockey, and backpacking.
